Frequently asked questions about your appointment

We recognise some people do not know what to expect when they come to see us and often have a lot of questions about the visit

We also know people are often reluctant to ask these questions as they don't want to come across as stupid. That's why we've created a list of of commonly asked questions (see below)

If you have any further questions then please do get back to us via telephone or email and we will get back to you.  The chances are it will be a question we have heard before and who knows your question may make the cut for this page in the future and so help out others.

Commonly Asked Questions

Is there any parking?

Yes there is plenty of free parking around the back of the building, although there are occasions when parking does get busy most of our patients manage to get a space. If not there is somespace out the front of the building and roadside parking.

How can I pay?

You can pay by clicking on the link that is on the invoice that by now you should have received.  Alternatively we can take card on the day but this will eat into your appointment time.  At this current time we are not taking cash payments due to COVID-19

Where do I go when I arrive?

Please wait in your car or outside as per the instructions that we have sent you for attending your appointment.  Which can also be downloaded here

What happens when I arrive?

We will call you and go through a COVID-19 Screen.  Should you pass that we will collect you from the back door and take you up to the clinic room.

What happens in the appointment?

We first will go other a little bit of admin.  We will then discuss your problem in greater detail than we have previously so we get a better understanding of it.

We will then assess and explain to you in as plain language as possible what the problem is.  You will have ample opportunity to ask questions at this time point if you still do not understand

We will then discuss treatment plans with you.  You will have an active role in what your treatment looks.  We may commence treatment within the session depending on how long the above takes.

Do I have to undress?

In order to assess your problem properly we may need to look at it.

It is therefore advisable for females to wear vest tops if we are assessing neck or shoulders.  For males we often ask to just take your top off.

If we are looking at your hips or knees  it is a good idea to wear loose fitting trousers or shorts.

For back issues we often just roll up peoples top and roll down peoples trousers however there may be occasion where it is beneficial to take your top off.

If you feel uncomfortable in undressing then that is fine, please tell us, we often sense it anyway.  We can work around it however to be 100% sure of your diagnosis it may be for us to see the area in question

How long is the appointment?

Initial assessments take up to an hour. This does not always mean that the full hour is required.  In some cases all that we need to  do in terms of assessment and treatment is done within this time frame.

How many sessions will I need?

This will be discussed with you on the day and depends on the findings of the examination.  Treatment options will be discussed with you.  We often offer a choice where we can see you more regularly or that we space your appointments further apart.  Sometimes people do only need one visit but this is more rare.
